Use the Dryer Sparingly
Walk by the dryer when it is running and you can feel the energy being used as hot air blows through your laundry. The simplest way to avoid excessive energy use is to hang your clothes on a drying rack or clothes line when you can. Some home owners associations don't allow for clotheslines so reducing the energy used by the dryer requires a few steps to be taken. First of all, use the dryer's moisture sensor. This detects when clothes in the dryer are dry and automatically shuts itself off. Not over-drying clothes can save tremendously. Another tip is to switch to the cool-down cycle halfway through the drying process. There is usually enough residual heat left in the dryer to finsh drying your clothes.
