Beating the Heat

As temperatures continue to soar during this summer's heat wave, our natural reaction is to immediately crank the air conditioner to cool us down. We all know that the ideal setting for the air conditioner during the summer months is 78 degrees. Did you know that for each degree lower than 78, you are increasing your energy bill by 3 - 5 percent? Add in the extra money we are all spending in gasoline and this looks to be a costly summer.

There are ways we can reduce the stress that the summer heat puts on our wallets. By taking simple steps such as air drying the dishes, turning on celing fans, or cutting back on other high energy devices can all help reduce energy consumption.
